San Diego-based rapper Jayo Felony, also known as Bullet Loco or Peer Pressure, shifted toward music once his teenage gang involvement led to incarceration. Following several underground tapes, he put out the single "Piss on Your Tombstone" and placed copies on consignment in neighborhood record stores. That release caught the ear of Run-D.M.C.'s Jam Master Jay, who signed him to the JMJ imprint for the 1994 album Take a Ride. Once the project faded from view, four years passed before Felony returned with his second album, the Def Jam release Whatcha Gonna Do? Underground arrived in 1999.
