Biography
As a cellist focused on chamber performance, Tricklir held appointments at the courts of Mainz and Dresden. He ultimately secured a lasting post in Dresden serving the Elector of Saxony. Although he journeyed to England and France, the Saxon capital remained his base. Among his works are several cello sonatas noted for their melodic clarity and approachability, relieved at times by flashes of virtuosity in the solo writing. Tricklir further produced two treatises, "Le microcosme musical" and "Discours analytique." The first examined how shifts in weather influence the tuning of instruments.
