Jean-Baptiste Quentin

Genre: Classical ,Chamber Music
Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Originating from France, Quentin distinguished himself as a violinist while displaying equivalent command of the viola. Beginning in 1718 he performed for several years at the Opera and simultaneously created music for his principal instrument. His output proved extensive, encompassing violin sonatas cast in four or five movements. He further produced numerous trio sonatas conceived with orchestral performance in mind. These works impose considerable technical demands through required triple and quadruple stops together with explicit bowing indications. Resonant melodies emerge throughout his scores, supported by rich concerted harmonies.
