Biography
Jean Jacques Milteau, the blues harmonica player born in Paris in 1950, first encountered the instrument during the mid-1960s through rock records by Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. An intense passion for the blues quickly followed. While traveling in the United States, he developed a strong fascination with traditional blues masters such as Little Walter, Charlie McCoy, and others in that lineage. By the late 1970s he had resolved to pursue music full-time, leading to regular appearances on the Paris club circuit alongside major figures including Charles Aznavour, Jean-Jacques Goldman, and Yves Montand. His solo debut, Blues Harp, finally arrived in 1989. After that release he began contributing to the field as an author of several harmonica method books, issued multiple albums across Europe, and maintained an active touring schedule. In 2003 he delivered Memphis, recorded in Tennessee.
