Biography
Born in North Philadelphia, trombone virtuoso Jeff Bradshaw carved out a reputation as an innovator fusing soul-jazz with hip-hop and funk. Early on he refined his technique by working alongside leading figures inside and outside the Philly soul community. His first solo outing, the 2004 album Bone Deep, arrived to widespread critical notice after he had already performed with luminaries such as Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, and many others. The release quickly turned him into a fixture on the festival circuit, after which he devoted the next eight years sharpening his characteristically smooth and direct approach both on his own and alongside artists including Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, the Roots, and Jill Scott. In 2012 he delivered his second full-length effort, Bone Appetit, drawing on contributions from guests such as Kindred the Family Soul, Raheem DeVaughn, Floacist, and Marsha Ambrosius.
