After leading the acoustic duo Tattle Tale for several years, Jen Wood left both the group and Seattle in 1996 to settle in Santa Cruz, California. Over the next twelve months she laid down eleven intimate pop songs built around nothing more than her voice and acoustic guitar. Issued on her own Radar Light imprint, the material surfaced as the cassette-only album No More Wading in 1997. That same year she recorded the follow-up Getting Past the Static with violinist Petra Haden of that dog., then returned to Seattle, where W.I.N. Records released the project in 1998. A split EP with Joan of Arc frontman Tim Kinsella on Tree Records preceded the May 1998 reissue of No More Wading, now positioned as her first official full-length. Later collaborations encompassed work with Jeremy Enigk and The Postal Service, the latter partnership producing the 2002 hit single “Nothing Better.” New Granada issued her official sophomore album, Finds You in Love, in 2010, while the piano-and-electronica-driven Wilderness arrived in 2014.
