Biography
Born in 1973 in La Habra, California, to a pair of working musicians, Jennifer Hanson absorbed the skills and insight that naturally pointed her toward a life in music. Inspired by Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, she first explored Nashville while still young, trying her hand there in the early 1990s and making the city her permanent base in 1995. Meeting songwriter Mark Nesler, who became her husband, took place in 1997; the next year she secured a publishing contract with Acuff Rose, and Capitol Records signed her by 2000. Her fusion of pop/rock with glossy new country reached radio in 2002 through the single “Beautiful Goodbye.” February 2003 brought the release of her self-titled debut album. Although several years passed without another album, her compositions found interpreters in the Wreckers with “Leave the Pieces” and in former American Idol contestant Bucky Covington with “Different World.” She resurfaced in 2007 on the Nashville South label via the single “Joyride.”
