Jennifer Licko

Jennifer Licko launched her musical path at age ten, advancing through competitions until she reached a professional standing. Gaelic formed a central part of her studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where she also earned an undergraduate degree in music education. Exposure to Gaelic song revealed the deep ties these works hold to Scotland’s past, and her residence and coursework there sharpened her grasp of the tradition. Thorough investigation of varied Celtic folk song styles prompted her to fuse authentic melodies with present-day sensibilities, an approach that gave birth to Cave of Gold.
