Biography
Though Jenny Hoyston first gained notice through her contributions to Erase Errata, the San Francisco-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist maintains an array of parallel endeavors. These encompass the electronics-driven outfit Paradise Island, her own solo recordings, and the group LESBIANS alongside Tara Jespen and Michelle Lawler. She also programs a recurring DJ evening and publishes the zine Don't Worry. After Erase Errata secured its standing among underground rock’s most demanding acts, Hoyston launched Paradise Island in 2003. Building on the reception accorded Erase Errata’s 2006 album Nightlife, she prepared the duet collection The Hallways of Always with William Elliott Whitmore and the Paradise Island EP Latitudes. She additionally tracked the solo album Isle Of across sessions in Detroit and Portland, enlisting Christina Files—previously associated with the Swirlies and Mary Timony—for those dates. Southern released the three projects in 2007.
