Biography
Jerard & Jovaun, a husband-and-wife contemporary gospel duo who also serve as worship leaders, delivered their first proper release on Motown Gospel in 2019, the EP What a Beautiful Name. Their debut full-length album, No Troubled Hearts, followed in 2023.
Jerard and Jovaun Woods first gained widespread recognition through YouTube clips of their joint performances, yet both had already built extensive careers as background vocalists, contributing to numerous live and studio dates alongside BeBe and CeCe Winans, Andraé Crouch, Donnie McClurkin, and Tasha Page-Lockhart, among many other artists. Jerard had previously issued his own solo project, I Waited, in 2007, while the pair continue to lead worship at Bethesda Community Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Their online audience expanded sharply in 2018 after they posted a cover of Hillsong’s “What a Beautiful Name,” which directly prompted a contract with Motown Gospel. That same year they appeared on the label’s compilation A Motown Gospel Christmas, and the following year they released the five-track EP What a Beautiful Name, produced by Jerard alongside Quennel Gaskin, whose prior credits include work with Juanita Bynum and Myron Williams. Building on that project’s reception, the duo issued an eponymous EP in 2020. Three years afterward they unveiled their first long-player, No Troubled Hearts, whose title track reached the charts.
