Biography
In late 2017, storied North Carolina producer Khrysis and Detroit rapper eLZhi, longtime associates, joined forces to create the duo Jericho Jackson. Prior to that alliance, eLZhi had already established decades of credentials through his membership in the influential Detroit collective Slum Village and a series of robust solo releases. The stretch immediately before the project’s launch, however, brought considerable hardship. The rapper confronted depression while facing reduced fan engagement after an extended delay surrounding his crowdfunded solo album Lead Poison, whose funds were raised in 2013 but which did not appear until 2016. Although eLZhi and Khrysis had continued to collaborate and remain in contact across the years, encouragement from their mutual friend 9th Wonder prompted them to reconvene at Khrysis’ studio, where they spent more than a month shaping the first full-length under the Jericho Jackson name. The album arrived in February 2018.
