Biography
Though not widely recognized, the skilled guitarist Jerry Hahn studied at Wichita State University and performed across Kansas before relocating to San Francisco in 1962. Some notice came from his contributions to John Handy's adventurous band between 1964 and 1966, a group that headlined the 1965 Monterey Jazz Festival. Hahn released a leader date in 1967, joined the Fifth Dimension on tour the next year, and served among the many accomplished guitarists in Gary Burton's ensemble from 1968 to 1969. In the early 1970s he fronted the Jerry Hahn Brotherhood before returning to Wichita State University as an instructor. He kept a low profile until 1986, when he settled in Portland and resumed full-time performing. Jerry Hahn moved to Colorado in 1993 and cut his first album in two decades for Enja.
