Born on 7 March 1954 in Belen, New Mexico, USA, Jaramillo developed an early passion for music during childhood, receiving his initial guitar from his father upon turning 12. Local performances followed, leading him to establish the Brown River Road Band for a steady engagement at a nightclub in Albuquerque. He has served as a supporting act for various performers such as Loretta Lynn and Faron Young. Achieving modest success on the independent charts in 1988, he scored with ‘Face To The Wall’, ‘Jeanie Loved The Roses’, and the self-penned ‘Honky Tonk Cinderella’. A blend of straightforward honky tonk, bar room ballads, and Tex-Mex typically characterized his releases, and his ability to perform in two languages, akin to Johnny Rodriguez, occasionally resulted in Spanish vocals alongside English ones.
