Biography
Born Gerald Hatley on October 19, 1937, in Manila, AK, singer/guitarist Jerry Jaye earned his lasting recognition through the 1976 country radio success of “Honky Tonk Women Love Redneck Men.” Following several independent sides, he reached Hi Records in 1967 with the rockabilly-flavored album My Girl Josephine, whose title track—a Fats Domino cover—entered the Top 30, after which he remained out of the spotlight for nearly ten years. He reappeared on Columbia in 1975 to score a minor hit with a reading of Tommy Edwards’s chart-topper “It’s All in the Game,” moved back to Hi the next year for Honky Tonk Women Love Redneck Men, and then withdrew from view once more.
