Biography
Jersey Boys functions not as any performing ensemble but instead as a Broadway production that traces the history of the Four Seasons, the act responsible for delivering such enduring pop successes as “Rag Doll,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Dawn,” “Silence Is Golden,” “Walk Like a Man,” and numerous additional chart entries. A 2005 soundtrack drawn from the stage presentation contained newly recorded versions of those same Four Seasons numbers performed by members of the cast and appeared under the supervision of Bob Gaudio, who had co-founded the original quartet and served as its chief songwriter while remaining the sole former member to participate directly in either the theatrical run or its accompanying album. Gaudio further oversaw the 2011 release Seasons Greetings: A Jersey Boys Christmas, an album that assembled performers from Jersey Boys productions worldwide to interpret holiday standards in the vocal manner long associated with the Four Seasons.
