Biography
Born to trombonist Urbie Green and one-time big-band singer Kathy Preston, Jesse Green entered the world with considerable promise ahead. He first explored the piano by ear at age three, reproducing melodies he heard. Formal lessons began at six, yet he postponed any thought of a professional path until his junior-college years. Before committing to the keyboard, Green had already performed as an all-state high-school trombonist; once he chose piano he abandoned rock music and absorbed a measure of Oscar Peterson’s style. Shortly after treating music as a vocation, he enrolled at Berklee, secured engagements on jazz cruises, and signed with Chiaroscuro, where he has so far completed two albums under his own name.
