Having held membership in the Screen Actors Guild from childhood onward, Jill Gioia later shifted her focus from on-camera work to a career as a solo recording artist. The raw, emotionally charged rock approach she developed secured opening slots on multiple Third Eye Blind concerts, one of which took place during the band’s appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman. Additional stage collaborations have included 98° Degrees, B-52’s, Berlin, and the Alarm. In 2000 she took first place in the Steve Madden Rock N Sole Girl Band Search Contest; the victory prompted the company to create and name a boot style after her—the “Jill Joy Boot.” She also reached the final round of the American Music Awards Coca-Cola New Music Award, a competition reserved for unsigned talent. A self-produced collection of her recordings can be obtained directly through her website, www.jillgioia.com.
