Biography
Born in the USA, Jim Dandy first rose to attention as keyboardist, singer and songwriter by steering Black Oak Arkansas, one of the most compelling acts to emerge from the American South. After the group hit a lull in the early 1980s, he pursued solo work with the engaging 1984 album Ready As Hell, which included guitar from Black Oak Arkansas colleague Ricky Reynolds. The audacity and drive heard on that record and its successor The Black Attack Is Back persuaded many observers that Dandy still mattered in current rock, yet his own releases have grown infrequent since he revived Black Oak Arkansas.
