Biography
Jimmy Burns, the younger sibling of bluesman Eddie Burns, carried forward the family legacy as a singer and guitarist by becoming a fixture on Chicago's West Side club circuit following an extended period away from public attention. Born February 27, 1943 in Dublin, Mississippi, he released a handful of singles at the start of his professional path, yet after marrying and raising a family he set aside most of his musical ambitions in favor of domestic responsibilities. Over the ensuing decades Burns appeared only occasionally; however, once his children reached adulthood in the early 1990s he resumed performing, capping a full day running his barbecue stand with a set of soulful blues at the Smokedaddy, his customary venue. In 1996, at the age of 53, Burns at last delivered his long-awaited full-length debut, Leaving Here Walking.
