Biography
Hailing from Boston, this group merges a politically aware folk sensibility with infectious hip-hop rhythms and humorous pop elements. Jim Infantino, the songwriter and guitarist who earned the National Academy of Songwriters' New Artist of the Year Award in 1995, performs his insightful groove-pop compositions backed by upright bass and drums. Under the moniker Jim's Big Ego, he and various accompanying players put out More Songs About Me along with the concert recording Titanic in 1996, followed by Don't Get Smart two years later. Fall 2000 saw the release of Noplace Like Nowhere. Infantino's earlier solo efforts, Strawman from 1993 and The World of Particulars, explore a comparable blend of grooves and poetry to that found in his ongoing work.
