Biography
Jodie Christian, a pianist rooted in Chicago, moved fluidly through blues, swing, bop, and ballads, yet stood out most for the inventive depth of his improvisations. Among the stronger local players who elected to remain in their hometown rather than relocate to New York City, he died in Chicago in 2012 at the age of 80.
