Biography
Born in New Jersey, USA, Francis launched his professional singing career in 1982 as a student, taking on roles in fringe theatre productions and nightclub appearances while also performing aboard cruise ships such as the QE2. In 1983 John Bunch personally endorsed him for the lead vocalist position in the New Glenn Miller Orchestra, leading to a three-year stint of extensive touring before he launched an independent solo career. He pursued formal music studies under the guidance of coaches Vera Mazel and Maria Farmworth. From 1986 onward he has maintained a primarily solo trajectory, interrupted only by a short period as featured singer with the New Pied Pipers. His regular collaborators include writer-producer Ken Barnes and arranger Pete Moore. During the mid-1990s he performed for the UK-based Sinatra Music Society and appeared at Buckingham Palace for a benefit concert supporting The Not Forgotten Association. Working in the Frank Sinatra tradition and drawing from the Great American Song Book, Francis has built a solid reputation for his nuanced interpretations of popular standards.
