Joe Torres

Having taken up the timbales at age ten, Joe Torres spent his early years in Spanish Harlem before heading west to Los Angeles in the mid-1950s. Throughout the 1960s he performed in two Elvis films, Viva Las Vegas and Fun in Acapulco, and released his sole album, 1968’s Latino Con Soul, on the World Pacific label. After withdrawing from music in the 1970s he later reentered the field to enroll in music courses at U.N.L.V.
