At the age of thirteen, accordionist Joey Miskulin launched his professional journey by joining “America’s Polka King” Frank Yankovic on a cross-country tour, an experience that led to appearances on multiple gold and platinum albums as well as three Grammy-winning releases. A Chicago native, Miskulin displayed prodigious ability early on and became a member of his first ensemble at eleven. Already having recorded by then, he accompanied Columbia artist Yankovic on the road and later performed on a syndicated polka program originating from Cleveland before relocating to Nashville. There he developed a friendship with Jack Clement, who secured him studio work, and over the ensuing years Miskulin recorded with Townes Van Sandt, Garth Brooks, Ricky Skaggs, and U2, among others. He also took up production and arranging, delivering albums for Michael Martin Murphey, Riders in the Sky, and his own group, Joey Miskulin & the International Festival Orchestra.
