Biography
Johannes Strate gained recognition primarily through his role leading the German five-piece Revolverheld. In addition, he developed an individual path as a performer that moved away from the intense emo-rock style associated with the band toward an approach centered on acoustic elements and personal songwriting. His birth took place during 1980 in Worpswede, Bremen, where his father played guitar and his mother piano. At fourteen years old he established Second Floor as his initial musical group and subsequently secured an agreement with the brief-lived label Privat. Following studies in vocal technique and popular music, Strate joined forces with Kristoffer Hünecke, Niels Grötsch, Jakob Sinn, and Florian Speer, creating Revolverheld. That ensemble achieved three albums inside the Top Ten. Meanwhile Strate launched multiple independent endeavors that included establishing an effective program for music instruction. In collaboration with producer Philipp Steinke he issued his first full-length recording, Die Zeichen Stehen auf Sturm, during 2011.
