Church of Anthrax
1971
Biography
Having both trained with avant-garde composer LaMonte Young, John Cale (born December 3, 1940) and Terry Riley (born June 24, 1935) later combined forces on a lone recording. After shifting toward rock through his tenure with the Velvet Underground, Cale revisited his contemporary classical foundations by partnering with Riley on Church of Anthrax in 1971.
