Biography
Grammy Award-winning as a producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, John Congleton also served as frontman for the nervy post-punk rockers the Paper Chase before later leading the equally incendiary the Nighty Nite. The Texas native issued five albums with the Paper Chase from 1998 to 2010 while simultaneously handling studio sessions for a range of acclaimed artists that included St. Vincent, the Roots/Erykah Badu, Swans, War on Drugs, and Mountain Goats. Following the Paper Chase’s dissolution in 2010, he assembled the Nighty Nite and released its four-song EP Dimples through Bandcamp and Graveface Records. Early 2016 brought the band’s first full-length effort, the Fat Possum-issued Until the Horror Goes.
