John Hinrichsen

A student majoring in mathematics and minoring in religious studies at Carnegie Mellon University, John E S Hinrichsen deliberately steers clear of commercial radio, MTV, and pop music magazines. He instead draws upon freeform college radio, live concerts, his 900-album collection, and online news and reviews. Eight years of alto saxophone lessons together with his background as a freeform DJ have also informed his outlook. At present his listening centers on hip-hop, trip-hop, and jazz, though these preferences continue to shift.
