Born on 11 April 1913 in Ellendale, Tennessee, USA, and dying on 22 August 1979 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, Granderson departed his family home during his teenage years and settled in Chicago, Illinois, in 1928. Though he had not yet become a professional musician, he performed alongside John Lee ‘Sonny Boy’ Williamson and additional artists. Full-time dedication to music began in the 60s, bringing appearances as both sideman and leader across numerous anthologies, even as he never issued a complete album under his own name. Vocals and guitar work stayed close to the style of the Memphis musicians of his youth. Public performances ended in 1975, followed by death from cancer in 1979.
