John Wells entered the Christian rap movement and its associated ministry work during the early 1990s. His ties to Cross Movement encompass both the ensemble and the affiliated record label, where he generated multiple projects and shared songwriting duties on pointed tracks including “I Am That I Am” and “Know Me (Huh, What?).” Devout listeners puzzled by those selections can turn instead to “The Jesus Anthem.”
A brush with mortality prompted Wells’ most significant solo statement so far, the 2006 release The Dash.
