Biography
Pennsylvania resident and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Jonathan Sprout first experimented with mainstream contemporary folk and rock before directing his efforts toward children’s music. Equipped with a psychology degree earned at Bucknell University, he left behind the bars and ski resorts that occupied his early twenties and turned instead to elementary classrooms, where his professional career took shape. In the mid-1990s Sprout launched his well-received American Heroes series, a project that recounts the lives of landmark figures in American history such as Pocahontas, Thomas Jefferson, Neil Armstrong, and Susan B. Anthony. The opening volume appeared in 1996, succeeded by More American Heroes in 2000 and American Heroes #3 in 2008.
