Biography
Several distinct cultures shaped the upbringing of Jose Latour. Born in Cuba, he relocated to the United States at age four and performs in both English and Spanish while citing Jimmy Buffett, Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, and Elton John among his primary influences. Alongside a thriving career as an immigration attorney, Latour worked as a consular officer for the United States in Mexico and Africa. By the 1990s he was channeling steadily more energy into music. He issued the bilingual album Ocean O in 1997 and, two years afterward, delivered the all-English follow-up Tales of the Caribbean Cowboys.
