Biography
Born James Bailey, J.R. Bailey built a career as an R&B vocalist and composer. From 1956 to 1972 he belonged to the Cadillacs, yet he also placed five R&B singles on the charts under his own name between 1968 and 1975; the highest-ranked was the 1973 single “After Hours,” which reached number 29. His songwriting credits include the hit “Everybody Plays the Fool” for the Main Ingredient and “Love, Love, Love” for Donny Hathaway.
