Biography
Born in Havana, pianist Juana Zayas revealed an extraordinary command of demanding classical repertoire while still a young child. At age 11 she earned her diploma from the Peyrellade Conservatory and left Cuba for further training at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris, where she concentrated on piano and chamber music. She later relocated to England and subsequently to New York to advance her studies; during these years she also married. The arrival of her three sons led her to pause her professional activities in order to raise the children at home. Nearly fifteen years afterward she resumed her career, recording classical albums once more and ultimately issuing her own releases on the imprint Zayas Masterworks, Inc.
