Judi Silvano

Emerging onto the jazz scene at the start of the 1990s, Judi Silvano issued her debut album Dancing Voices through JSL Records. This recording presented a polished vocal approach shaped by 1960s influences and drew notice in particular for the track “Ecstacy,” which she composed herself. Her striking appearance and engaging performance style helped establish popularity in nightclub settings, after which she waited until 1996 to release Vocalise. Although that effort proved equally accomplished, further touring yielded the less successful Songs I Wrote, or Wish I Did. Remaining undeterred, she unveiled Riding a Zephyr two years afterward, incorporating several pieces with pianist Mal Waldron.
