Judson Brown saw only a solitary release appear under his own name, consisting of an unaccompanied piano-and-vocal take on “You Don't Know My Mind Blues” that Brunswick Records captured in Chicago on May 13, 1930. Despite that limited visibility as a featured artist, Brown remained active as a session pianist whose forceful barrelhouse approach surfaces on Mary Johnson’s striking “Death Cell Blues,” where Tampa Red also supplies incisive bottleneck guitar.
