Biography
Judy Dunlop participated in the Albion Band during the early 1990s and has established herself among the foremost voices in both traditional and modern British folk music. Her first solo release, the 1991 album Sway With Me, teamed her with Ashley Hutching and featured contributions from Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick. Later projects encompass the lullaby collection My Arms Are A Cradle as well as I Want Something, recorded with guitarist Jon Scaife of the American acoustic ensemble Gypsy Reel. In the late 1980s she worked alongside teacher, composer, performer and publisher Steve Marsh.
Having begun performing at thirteen, Dunlop demonstrated ability across multiple art forms. She gained nationwide notice as a dancer on the BBC series Feet First during the mid-1980s and supplied the narration for the 1999 BBC Channel 5 program X-mas Files.
Now residing in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Dunlop maintains a duo partnership with Scaife. She resumed her association with Hutching in the early 2000s, contributing to the 2002 album Street Cries.
