Having sustained a career well past the promise of her initial breakthrough, Julie Budd first attracted notice after being discovered at age twelve in the late 1960s. That same year she made her debut appearance in the Catskills, and six months afterward she performed on the Merv Griffin Show, soon becoming a steady presence on talk shows and the supper club circuit. Those early experiences, which included co-starring engagements with Frank Sinatra, Liberace, George Burns, and Bob Hope, led her to mature into a polished interpreter of popular song in the vein of Sinatra or Torme, headlining top rooms from Las Vegas to the Catskills. Acting roles formed a secondary pursuit, centered chiefly on work with the Circle Repertory Theater and Playwright's Horizons in New York plus scattered film parts, yet her chief occupation in later years has been a one-woman show that generated the 1997 album Pure Imagination, followed in spring 2000 by If You Could See Me Now.
