Biography
Born in Derby, Derbyshire, England, this British singer-songwriter first picked up the guitar and started composing tunes during her early teenage years. Her initial stage appearances came alongside the Ferradays, an acoustic ensemble formed at school, yet once her schooling concluded she shifted to pursuing a career independently. Remaining rooted in Derby, Collings took to performing at area club events and issued a self-released acoustic EP comprising four tracks, which she offered for sale during those shows. Encouraged by the positive reception the EP received, she moved forward to finalize her first full-length record. Produced entirely by Collings herself in a spare room where she also performed on every instrument, the album Flotsam came out in the summer of 2007. Gentle electronic touches complemented the acoustic foundations of her songs on this release, and numbers including ‘All Else’, ‘The Last Post’ and ‘Follow You’ highlighted her considerable abilities as a songwriter.
