Biography
In 1970s South Africa, Juluka stood out as the most unconventional ensemble to arise. Formed by English-born White anthropologist Johnny Clegg alongside traditional Zulu musician Sipho Mchunu, the group delivered vibrant dance tracks fusing peak elements from African and Western traditions. By posing in complete Zulu attire beside Mchunu on the artwork of their debut record, Clegg provoked outrage among the White authorities. Listeners can experience their sound through the compilation The Best of Juluka.
