Biography
Emerging in the 1990s from New Jersey, the distinctive indie rock/jazz trio Juneau operated as an instrumental outfit built around two guitars and a single drummer. Christian Hedlund, Marc Orleans, and John Widger assembled the group and at times folded analog synthesizer textures into their sound. Their brazenly improvisational approach led to stage collaborations with Hovercraft, Jessamine, Bardo Pond, and Jim O'Rourke over the years. The self-titled debut appeared on Ba Da Bing Records in 2001. Guitarist Marc Orleans died on June 25, 2020, at the age of 52.
