Biography
Just Chase, a singer and rapper active in contemporary R&B, grew up in Nova Scotia and regards his fellow Canadian Drake as one of his chief sources of influence. He aligns with Drake and several OVO Sound affiliates by preferring subtle melodic lines across calm, atmospheric instrumentals. After relocating westward to Toronto several years earlier, Chase entered the scene in 2017 through his own SOS label, an abbreviation for "save our soul." The tracks "Ego" and "Between Us" cleared the path for the compact mixtape Killing Roses, an eight-song collection of original material that arrived that November on the date his late mother was born. Plans for a follow-up EP had already taken shape by then.
