Justin Berkovi

Justin Berkovi, a prominent British techno figure, creates work that appeals equally to followers of hard-edged minimal styles and admirers of techno’s atmospheric, feeling-driven dimension. Watford is his birthplace, though Luxembourg also formed part of his youth, during which synth pop and hip-hop shaped his listening. Electronics and tape loops occupied him experimentally throughout his school years, after which he directed his energies toward music upon finishing at Sussex University in 1996. Early key recordings surfaced on Sativae and on Mosquito, the label run by Cristian Vogel, soon followed by attention gained from singles issued on experimental dancefloor outlets such as DJAX and Force Inc. In 1998 he launched his own Predicaments imprint and completed his debut LP, Charm Hostel; the next year saw the arrival of After the Night.
