Long-running Danish rock outfit Kandis (Candy) craft infectious, energetic pop tunes laced with narrative flair. Over multiple decades the group has maintained a consistent output of fresh recordings, achieving several chart-topping successes including the 2008 studio album Kandis 12 while sustaining momentum through later releases such as Kandis 20: Fisseminister Blomkål in 2020 and Kandis 22 in 2023. Additional concert documents include the 2024 live set 35 Års Jubilæumskoncert: Live in Concert.

The project originated in 1985 when founding duo Jens Erik Jensen and Torben Andersen first assembled, later expanding personnel to capture their material. Johnny Hansen became the initial recruit, assuming lead vocals and guitar, with Jørgen Hein Jørgensen soon added on bass. After Andersen’s departure, Michael Krätz took over drumming duties upon joining officially in 2004. From their earliest days Kandis issued a rapid succession of consecutively numbered, self-titled studio albums on an almost yearly schedule, reaching Denmark’s summit with Kandis 12 in 2008, Kandis 14 in 2011, and Kandis 16 in 2014 while frequently occupying the upper reaches of the Top Ten. Throughout this period Hansen balanced a parallel solo trajectory with his ongoing Kandis commitments, as the band’s popularity and audience continued to expand well into the 2020s via further entries such as Kandis 20 in 2020, Kandis 21 in 2021, and Kandis 22 in 2023.
