Kanonenfieber

Kanonenfieber operates as a blackened death metal outfit under the guidance of anonymous multi-instrumentalist Noise, who records every studio track alone yet enlists supporting players for stage appearances. Based in Bamberg, Germany, the group explores World War I history through its material, drawing on genuine documents and correspondence to portray the era’s grim realities, an approach that originated when Noise established the project following his encounter with his great-grandfather’s frontline journals. Referencing extreme metal acts such as Bolt Thrower and Minenwerfer, Noise assembled the band’s stark debut during 2020 and delivered the completed effort, Menschenmühle, one year later. Century Media soon noticed the recording, promptly signed Kanonenfieber, and released the well-received Die Urkatastrophe in 2024, an album that climbed to number three on the German charts.
