Kareen Lomax, a singer-songwriter hailing from Georgia, crafts an intimate strain of alternative R&B that pairs her deep, smooth vocal delivery with an anxious, introspective perspective. Her first single, the 2016 track “Melatonin,” amassed hundreds of thousands of streams on its own. She later reached tens of millions of plays through her featured turn on the 2020 release “Looking for Me,” a collaboration with Paul Woolford and Diplo. That same year she issued her debut EP, Hard Feelings.

Raised in the suburbs of Marietta, Georgia, Lomax started documenting her life while traveling as a child to Virginia to see her maternal grandparents. She soon picked up guitar, initially interpreting other artists’ material before shaping an original style. In 2016 her self-released debut “Melatonin” spread rapidly online after a single $50 social-media campaign, yet the attention faded quickly. Following a handful of additional tracks she moved back home, took work as a dog groomer, and weighed leaving music behind. Late in 2018 she stepped into an Atlanta studio and encountered producer Sensei Bueno, who introduced himself, queued up a beat idea, and prompted her to write “Hard Feelings.”

While she continued developing songs, an unexpected opportunity arose after she reached out directly to Diplo via message, securing her spot on “Looking for Me.” The 2020 single, credited jointly to Paul Woolford, Diplo, and Lomax, climbed into the Top 20 on several Billboard dance charts, among them Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. In April 2021 she unveiled her debut EP, Hard Feelings.
