Biography
Kasi Cerekwicka, the Polish pop singer also recognized under the names Kasia Cerekwicka and Katarzyna Cerekwicka following her birth on March 17, 1980, in Koszalin, Poland, first drew nationwide notice by claiming victory in the 1997 television talent competition Szansa Na Sukces (Chance for Success). A recording contract soon followed, yet the young performer’s 2000 debut album Mozaika proved disappointing in both commercial reach and creative execution, leading her to overhaul her artistic approach. The revised path produced the 2006 release Feniks, which achieved major success through a number one single and the Superjedynka Award for Record of the Year. At the height of her pop achievements she returned to reality television by competing in Poland’s edition of Dancing with the Stars (Taniec z Gwiazdami) and finished fourth. October 2007 brought her third album, Pokój 203 (Room 203), back onto the pop charts.
