Biography

Having trained rigorously on violin and completing her studies at New York’s Juilliard School of Music, the performer who styles herself the ‘Great Kat’ spent six years delivering assured performances on the instrument before turning to guitar. She then pursued a hybrid of classical and rock idioms, favoring rapid execution and brief instrumental pieces. Her debut album Worship Me Or Die met with unfavorable responses, even though she asserted that the recording constituted ‘the first real revolutionary music since Beethoven’. Unfazed by the reception, she followed with Beethoven On Speed, an effort that showed clear advances in both execution and studio craft. Marketing herself through an exaggerated caricature of the ‘wild woman of rock’, she found the persona gained little traction among European listeners, and despite indications that she might deliver a fresh metal/classical hybrid, the artist has remained largely silent since.
