Kat Reinhert

Kat Reinhert, a New York-based singer and songwriter trained in both jazz and classical vocal techniques, creates music that frequently merges jazz elements with pop structures. Born in Wisconsin, she launched her jazz education at Lawrence University and then moved to New York in 1996 to obtain a Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. In 2005 she relocated once more, this time to Florida, completing an M.M. in Jazz Pedagogy at the University of Miami. Following graduation she returned to New York and launched regular jazz performances with her ensemble, which includes guitarist Perry Smith, bassist Sam Minaie, and drummer Ross Pederson. Her first self-produced album, Chrysalis, containing solely original material, came out in 2009. Reinhert issued two further albums in 2015: Spark, devoted to her own compositions, and Home Movies, which gathers jazz standards alongside reworked pop songs by Neil Young, Foo Fighters, and others.
