Biography
Folk singer and guitarist Kate Wallace earned recognition among fellow creators as a songwriter's songwriter while refining her abilities during her years as a staff writer for Polygram Records in Nashville. Countless performers recorded her material, and through close work with the city's leading songwriters and musicians she shaped a personal roots-oriented approach defined by her commanding vocals and songs marked by intricate detail and literary precision. After spending a decade in Nashville she relocated to Los Angeles, where she again immersed herself in the songwriting and folk communities of California before settling in Santa Barbara. Beginning in 1993 she appeared regularly on the main stage of the Kerrville Folk Festival and performed across the top tier of the folk festival and club circuit. Her debut album, Kate Wallace, was issued in 1995. She later started her own imprint, New Pair o' Dimes Records, and released Two Lane America, recorded with Michael Camp, in 2004, together with Too Long from the Sea that same year. The ambitious Politics & Religion followed in 2007, with Ruby Slippers arriving in 2010.
